About The Club

Bath Spa Badminton club is run with the intention of providing its members with a venue in which they can not only improve their badminton skills and general fitness but also as a place to socialise with other like minded people.

We meet every Thursday during the winter season (September through to April/May) at The Royal High School in Bath. We have have four courts avilable to us from 7:30pm to 9:30pm where we play doubles games using a peg system to ensure that members get to play with, and against, a variety of other members.

During the summer months (May to August), for those who wish to play all year round, we have in the past met at the Sports Centre in Bath.

New to the Game?

We all had to start somewhere and new members are always welcome. We aim to provide an environment in which all can participate from those looking to improve their skills to those who would like to test themselves in competitive matches.

Whilst we don't offer any formal coaching, our members are always willing to pass on their knowledge & experience to new members.

Experienced Player?

For those who have played badminton before and wish to extend themeselves then we offer the chance to play in competitive matches.

The club has participated in the Bath League since its inception and tries to field at least one mixed team (4 men and 2 ladies) every year.

Each match takes the format of 4 mens, 1 ladies and 4 mixed doubles games.

Location

During the season we play at the Royal High School in Bath. This is located to the north of Bath on Lansdown Road. Be sure to go to the Senior School (marked A on the map below) and not the Junior School.

The easiest way to the sports hall is through the rear entrance of the school. As you go up Lansdown Road bear right at the fork at St. Stephen's Church onto Richmond Road.

Continue up Richmond Road until it levels off and on your left hand side, where a high wall ends and a hedge begins, is the entrance to the driveway up to the rear of the school. The building immediately in front of you once you reach the top of the driveway is the sports hall.

Fees

Our Membership fees for the forthcoming year are as follows:

Adult: £55
Child/OAP: £25

If you would like to attend as a visitor we charge a fee of £3 per night, for a maximum of 3 nights after which we would prefer you joined as a full member.

For an adult who attended every club night this would work out at approximately £2 per evening. When you consider that a typical sports centre would charge in excess of £5 per hour then we consider this extremely good value.
